Types of Standardized Testing
PLAN
The PLAN is a practice test for the ACT; it also provides information to help students with their career and college planning. This test is often taken by sophomores.
PSAT/NMSQT
The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test) and NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is a practice test for the SAT; it's also used to determine the National Merit semifinalists. The PSAT/NMSQT is typically given in October to juniors.
ACT (American College Test)
The ACT is a college entrance examination that students generally take during their junior and/or senior year. Students receive scores in English, Reading, Math, and Science Reasoning, as well as a Composite score.
SAT I (Scholastic Assessment Test)
The SAT I is a college entrance examination that students generally take during their junior and/or senior year. Students receive a Verbal and Math score.
SAT II: Subject Tests
The SAT II: Subject Tests are one-hour tests that measure a student's knowledge in specific subject areas. These tests are required by some of the more competitive colleges.
